DE-SHEDDING SERVICE
If your dog is shedding excessively, there is a simple way to relieve it.
FURtastic Dog Wash Byford can come to your home with the mobile salon and perform a De-Shedding Service designed to remove the dead undercoat your dog is ready to drop.
What Is De-Shedding?
De-shedding removes as much loose, dead, ready-to-shed undercoat as possible without damaging the guard hairs.
Guard hairs are essential for protection and temperature regulation, so correct technique is vital.
A proper de-shed helps your dog:
• Feel lighter and more comfortable
• Maintain healthier skin and coat
• Regulate body temperature more effectively
• Reduce the amount of hair left around your home
The service uses specific products, tools, and techniques designed for double-coat maintenance.
How Often Should De-Shedding Be Done?
Dog hair grows in a 30-day cycle.
To keep shedding under control:
• A De-Shedding Service every 4–8 weeks is recommended
• A Wash & Blow Dry at the 30-day point keeps the undercoat cycle managed
• De-shedding is not a “one-off” service — regular maintenance is required
Important Notes About This Service
• De-shedding is a messy service. Large amounts of hair may blow into your yard or surrounding area.
If this is an issue, a bricks-and-mortar salon may be a better option.
• Price varies depending on:
– size of the dog
– coat length and thickness
– coat condition
– behavior and tolerance
– time required
• Once-a-year dogs or dogs with neglected coats require extra time and higher pricing.
Please text for a price estimate for these cases.
